What has actually been created in over 20 years of EMW moving image? We’re bringing it from the hard drive to the cinema.

We present a selection from the more than 400 films that Prof. Anne Quirynen has curated and collected over the course of her 20-year teaching career in moving image at EMW. The five programs we’re showing over three days offer a glimpse into a wide variety of projects, approaches, and formats from the hard drive.

We’ve organized the works into thematic program sections, such as cultures of memory, logics of extraction, surveillance, and various forms of discrimination. The formal range is also broad, spanning from found footage to essay films and travel formats, all the way to experimental works and portraits. Overall, the films demonstrate the diverse and thoughtful ways in which different cinematic forms of expression are employed.
