This study is devoted to the aesthetics of modern cities, which is important for creating the image of a city not only for a comfortable stay of the population. In fact, in the modern era of globalization, it is also an issue of great importance as it is associated with attracting tourists, which brings significant income to the city budget and contributes to its further functioning and development. The problem of aesthetics of the city is considered on the example of the Italian city of Naples. This is not a random choice, as there has been a long-standing discussion about how the aesthetics of the city meet modern requirements. The essence of the problem lies in the fact that there are many streets in the city where residents hang their washed clothes right on the street, stretching ropes between houses, on balconies. Living in a high-density environment is very different from living in detached houses or country life.
