Essayistic documentary on volunteering in Kenya Film »Namba Nane«

Marek Corke
Betreuung: Prof. Anne Quirynen, Katja Zanger
Bachelorarbeit
The filmmaker is taking you on a journey to Kibera, an illegal settlement in the heart of Nairobi, Kenya. This place has been proclaimed by media as being one of the largest slums in the world, giving a home to an uncertain and growing number of inhabitants.
It is also a melting pot for global involvement of the development sector. In this film, both the western and the kenyan perspective reveal an industry dealing with poor life’s circumstances that is trying to turn these into a business career. For some, it means to open a popcorn shop, for others to invite slum-tourists to their homes.
